Monthly ReportJanuary, 2003
The month of January was dedicated to strengthen what was begun in 2002. Thus the URR activity focused on the developing of the Local Organizations, its main actions being:
Current information:
The URR re-enlistment according to the new Political Parties Law
As a consequence of the new Political Parties we started demarches to re-enlist the party to the Court of Justice with it's over 25.000 founding members the law is requiring. All the URR local teams mobilized and thus the first lists didn't take long to appear.
This was the first time when we asked and we still do to join our team in an active way. Beyond the less perfect character of the law this represents a very important demarche for us because the final result of our work depends entirely on it.
You can still help us to achieve this project; one can find all the necessary documents on the www.urr.ro website.
Changes in the Petrila CDL structure
January has coincided with the change of the component structure of the Petrila local URR organization. Daniel Temneanu, the vice-president of the Petrila CDL group resigned from his function. Emilia Moldovan, a graduate of the Law Faculty of Timisoara was elected as vice-president. One can find the presentation of the new Petrila leader on the www.urr.ro site, local URR organizations section.
Local projects and actions
Cluj Napoca
January meant for the Cluj team a great deal of work, but an even greater visibility due to the active involvement within the community and to the formal and informal meetings with local journalists.
The "It's up to you" project launched in October entered a new developing stage and the www.delacluj.zic.ro will have in February a new interface, thanks to some programmers. Don't forget to visit it in order to observe the results of this project.
But this is not the only project that is happening in Cluj, one of the main activities in January being to cooperate with the non-governmental organizations. Thus starting with January the 15-th a meeting with the representatives of the non-governmental organizations of Clue: ARC, The Romanian Children Foundation, Community and Family, SECS, Clue Humanity Habitat, the CIVITAS Foundation, The Romanian Cancer Foundation, Diamond Dance Club, The Resources Center of the Rromani Committees, PRO VOBIS took place on the 15-th of January at the URR location of Cluj Napoca. The meeting had a double purpose: to present URR and to ask for the ONG's advice in what concerns the party's strategy in relation with the non-governmental sector. This meeting proved to be very important, the URR position towards the civil society and the non-governmental sector raising interest and enthusiasm. A few collaboration propositions and future encounters were discussed. The first one will took place in February the 15-th and will be with the ARC and SIROIS (Conex) representatives. These ones will be presenting the URR members the "payroll giving" concept to be a model of active involvement in the community. The leader of this project is Mihaela Banciu, the vice-president of the organization.
Petrila
In January the 31-st the Petrila organization inaugurated its new head office. The presidents of the Cluj Napoca and Timisoara URR organizations, Nagy Zoltan and Laurentiu Stefanescu and the URR vice-president, Mihaela Vincze were present. Starting from January the children of Petrila will learn to work with the computer thanks to the URR.
The project's success was reflected even in the fact that in only one week from launching 170 parents entered their children to the URR School. Emilia Moldovan, one of the Petrila organization leaders is preparing them another surprise yet: soon, the children will be able to surf the net. Thus a new, more beautiful world will become reality in Petrila, too.
Local URR Organizations
Each week the Local Managing Committees meet the members and the adherents of the organizations. The meetings were a good occasion to make a better acquaintance, to attract new members, to debate new ideas, and last but not least to strengthen up teams. Once more, the debates were prolonged late in the night and the number of those present grew by each week.
News on the www.urr.ro
January has enriched the URR web site with:
The URR activity reflected in mass-media
In January the URR activity was reflected in 17 articles of the written media. 12 of these were of the central press and 5 of them of the local press. We started the new year with 4 press releases through which we made our voice heard concerning the government members activity. The articles and the press releases one can find on the www.urr.ro, the media section.
Likewise, on January the 20-th the URR president, Cosmin Alexandru and the URR vice-president Adrian Stanciu participated to the "Alo, Florin!" show of Florin Calinescu which was aired by the Tele7abc television. Some of you contacted and joined the URR team after seeing the show. Welcome to the team!
The same in Cluj, on the 24-th of January, Nagy Zoltan, the president of the local organization and Mircea Popescu, treasurer-secretary were the "heroes" of a 40 minute talk-show for the local television NCN. The great number of phone calls during the show reflected the success it had.
The positioning of www.urr.ro in top
During the month of January the URR site remained in top, occupying the 7-th position on the www.trafic.ro.
