Date: 02.21.2003 PRESS RELEASERomania is paying tribute to RussiaThe Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR is finding the gesture of the Nastase government and of the president Iliescu, that of giving the LukOil Company 54 millions dollars of our money as a preparation for the visit the Russian prime minister will make in Bucharest, quite a humiliation.
The ordinance of emergency and the law that president Iliescu has promulgated that are absolving LukOil of these debts are unconstitutional, because they are seriously affecting the Romanian interests and are introducing intolerable discrimations among economic agents.
By this gesture the government is plucking 100.000 lei out of the pocket of each major citizen of Romania. Probably they have no idea that most of the Romanian people have less than 100.000 lei per day for food and other expenses. Not to mention that if we are adding all the other financial tricks by which the government is "earning an honest penny" on the account of the budget, we will definitely see that they are "sparing" the basic Romanians of too many days of decent life. They have come once again, in the middle of the XXI st century, some poor serves paying tributes to the neighbor empires.
Nevertheless the loss that Adrian Nastase and Ion Iliescu have caused
the budget and the tax payers out of conjectural caprice is not the only
evil, even if the amount of money is quite considerable. The worse thing
is that the countries true finest are disposing of its founds as they
wish and that they are disregarding the most elementary regulations that
should be governing a civilized country, by annulling the concurrency
within economy and by compromising the motivation for an earnest gain.
