Date: 03.07.2003 PRESS RELEASEThe Black Working CodeThe Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR believes that the new Working Code contains serious deficiencies which will lead to the degradation of the quality, even now precarious, of the business environment in Romania. The principle of the new Working Code, according to which the employee may be well if the employer is not well is completely false. Thus, the protection that the new Working Code is offering to the employees is false as well, which was seen immediately after the new Code begun being applied, when the employers demanded for a blank resignation in order to be able to face the new exigencies.
The employers have to face some rigorous misalignments: the obligation of looking for a working place for the fired ones and of offering them professional formation and compensations and to found a fund to guarantee the paychecks, all in very unclear terms. In return, the employees after the regulations of the new Working Code will not have the obligation of carrying on a quality work, and the possibility of being fired for this reason doesn't exist.
The Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR states that the new regulations
will seriously affect the competition level of the Romanian firms and
will lead to a working market even more rigid than the one we have today.
Due to the populist appetite of PSD the employers will face even more
hardships in managing their business and the economical drop that will
result will affect both the employees and the employers.
