Government Steals also from Mothers!

The Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR considers immoral the government's decision of annulling allowance payment for the mothers that, according to the previous regulations, contributed at least 6 months to the social assurance fund. To unilaterally suspend the execution of these contracts, although the mothers we are talking about had already paid their fees, contravenes both law and common sense.

More, limiting the allowance for child care taking to 85 percent of the medium net wage means a brutal attempt to equalize the incomes without prcedent even in the communist era. This measure is tougher than the aberrant taxation of 80 percent proposed by President Iliescu; thus, a woman with a significant big salary that contributes for years with an irreverent number of million lei per month to the social welfare, will be entitled to receive in the two year period exactly the same amount of money as a woman who contributes ten times less.

The Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR appreciates that the Nastase government makes a huge mistake by letting outside of the welfare system women from the rural environment, an extension of its attitude of not integrating the village in the system of modern civilization. The gap between village and town has deepened in the last 13 years instead of decreasing; but its complete extinction cannot be achieved by a party of stagnation like PSD that started the 90's by crumbling private property - on purpose holding agriculture at the horse plough level to prevent in the countryside the development of social forces favoring a different kind of party and a different politics.
