The Mammoth PSD Government, Now in a New Presentation

The Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR is thinking that the solution of gathering under the prime minister's authority of no less than 23 departments and agencies is clearly disagreeing with the declared goal of the reshuffling, that is of rendering the government more efficient and cutting down the bureaucracy. A state in which the first minister is directly controlling the foreign investments, the privatization, the state patrimony, the auctions and the public utilities prices can not be a modern and functional state.

This false solution will allow an even greater freedom to those that want to manipulate their own position within these agencies and authorities or to those that have an influence on them in order to gain undue advantages. The fact that these manipulations which come from down will be joined by the "official" governmental manipulations is not at all a good thing when speaking of the quality of the governing act.

We think that many of these functions must belong to some independent organizations or to some organizations which are under the Parliament authority and those that are meant to the executive should be seriously controlled by its representatives, not as a whole by the prime minister. These problems would never exist whether PSD would have realized, as promised, a coherent privatization of the state section and would have dropped the excessive control attributions over the local administration or over some activities like foreign investments.
