URR, supporting the Freedom of the Press

The Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR is condemning the abusive interdiction applied by the Ukrainian authorities to the Romanian journalist Victor Roncea, the head of the External Politics Department of the Ziua newspaper. We think that it is a fragrant and unbelievable and infringement of the individual rights of a Romanian citizen, the more serious that it is disturbing the correct information on a highly rated problems.

We think that this kind of gestures is incompatible with the reports of good neighborhood of the two states. The abusive conduct of the Ukrainian authorities is reminding us of the age before 1989 when independent journalism was forbidden and the citizen's information was completely the propaganda's job.

The Union for the Reconstruction of Romania -URR is joining the internal and international protests that demanded the revoking of these undemocratically measurements. We are asking the Romanian authorities to maintain in a more vivid way the demarches towards the Ukrainian authorities in view of getting this whole regrettable situation to normal.
