PRESS RELEASE

The False Causes of Health Bankruptcy

The Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR is sustaining the Physicians Alliance protest against the declarations of the Minister of Health according to which some of the Health bankruptcy causes are representing the personnel wages expenses. These cynical declarations are not doing anything else but distracting the attention from the fact that the present government is misusing the funds raised for Health towards the pension and unemployment fund, which are activities that have a stronger electoral impact.

As long as the taxes paid especially for the Health fund by the employee and the employer (actually still of the employee's wage) are not being used completely in this respect, all the minister's raids in pharmacies or hospitals looking for the bankruptcy causes are lacking sense. The more the only such causes that were found so far are the sub-existence physicians' wages and the huge expenses connected to the pensioner's treatment.

We are feeling that a true minister of Health should not waste weeks on checking the compensated recipes in order to discover what every common man knows, that is, that the pensioners is needing more care than the active people. In stead of accusing these expenses, which are in deed huge, the minister of Health should fight for getting more resources and for making them really efficient.

We believe that in stead of hiring colonels to "fortify the discipline" the minister of Health should better collaborate with the syndicates, the Non-governmental Organizations (NGO) and the Professional Associations of the field, which now it is ignoring completely. And more, it should ask itself the question of what medical services is it offering in return for every leu paid by the ensured ones, who is responsible for these services and in which way.
