November 6th, 2003 The Ratings Hunt
The Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR is thinking that not awarding Romania the rating of functional market economy is a very troubling signal, not only to Romania's integration into Europe but also to the Romanians' chances to a decent leaving. The nowadays power will never be able to improve these chances. These people have dedicated their entire energy to gain the status of functional market economy and now, in a completely ridiculous attempt, they are dedicating their entire energy to change the negative verdict they have received. Still, no positive qualificative would have changed the fact that Romania ranks long behind African and South-American countries when it comes to the living standards or corruption erradication.
We do not believe that a couple of resignations will solve the fundamental problem of the nowadays governing, just like the recent resignations have not improved in any way the quality of the governing. On one hand we have the ministerial corruption cases that are covered up by the justice and on the other hand these ministers are replaced by others alike. The party is refusing not only the penal sanctioning, but also the moral one, continuing to sustain the corrupted dignitaries till the very end.
The wide spread corruption the country report is mentioning is not one that PSD has succeeded to defeat, but a corruption PSD is organizing, managing from the governing level, and disseminating through the whole society. That is why, the Union for the Reconstruction of Romania - URR is thinking that we have the duty to sanction and isolate everyone who is accepting this model, no matter at which level. We have to clearly delimit the healthy part of Romanian society from this wide spread corruption. We have to highlight the part that wants to be prosperous through honest work and to have a decent and civilized living.
